IT was a magic moment for 19-year-old Ben Davies on Saturday as he celebrated his Football League debut.
Davies was given probably a long overdue chance and he did little wrong in a tough 0-0 draw at Rochdale.
The former Walsall trainee has already appeared for Harriers in the LDV Vans Trophy and Worcestershire Senior Cup as well as making a Nationwide Conference substitute appearance last season.
Davies, who replaced the injured Neil MacKenzie, admitted it was just a case of the team fighting to resurrect their campaign after some bad defeats.
He said: "It was all about keeping our shape and trying to get at least a point to get us back on the road.
"It was very congested out there and it was a case of digging in. We nearly got a perfect away win. I was surprised when Dean got there for that chance, I couldn't keep up with him!"
Despite being restricted to intermittent reserve games, Davies admits he has learnt a lot at Aggborough.
He continued: "I have learnt a lot by watching the other players here and the games when I travel with them. It's all been an experience for me.
"It was on Thursday that I thought I might have a chance of playing. I wasn't really nervous, well maybe a bit. And it wasn't too bad. I felt OK at the end.
"I hope we can build on that result and go on to have a strong finish towards the end of the season.
"There are a lot of reserve games coming up and I hope to play in most of them. It's just been great to get my chance."
Davies is waiting to talk to boss Jan Molby about his hopes for a deal next season.
He added: "He hasn't said anything yet. I'm sure it will be sorted out at the end of the season."
