REDDITCH UNITED (0) 0 Gresley Rovers (1) 2
AN impressive Gresley side coasted to victory denying Redditch their second league win of the season.
The Reds provided very little for the large crowd to cheer with the visitors always in control.
Redditch were on the back foot as early as the 13th minute, when Spooner met Mark Dearlove's half clearance on the volley.
It flew in from the edge of the penalty area leaving keeper Dave Adey a mere spectator.
Dearlove had chance to atone just seven minutes later when he caught hold of Ross Knight's corner, but it went agonisingly wide.
It was the Reds only real chance of the half despite having the majority of possession.
Redditch were lucky to be only one down at half-time with Gresley carving out two more chances.
Kitching was guilty of a glaring miss when put clean through by Coates, placing his effort wide of the post.
Then on the stroke of half-time Adey was forced to make a save from the dangerous Fowkes.
But the normally reliable Adey was at fault for Gresley's second goal after the restart.
He failed to hold Spooner's free-kick, spilling it into the path of Williams, who made no mistake from two yards out.
Redditch attempted to fight back with Gillett flashing a header across goal, and Cope should have headed home from Dearlove's free-kick, but missed the target with just the keeper to beat.
The Reds were then indebted to the woodwork keeping the score respectable, as Williams hit the post and Fowkes the crossbar in the final minutes.
Redditch: Adey, Knight, Randall, Manton, Gillett, Dearlove, Cope, Nicholls, Molloy (Mulders 45), Smith (Tilley 67).
l Attendance: 320
l Man of the match: Dearlove
