WORCESTER Rugby Club are unlikely to announce a new skipper until August, John Brain has revealed.
Director of rugby Brain will look over his squad when the existing and new players come together for the first time on July 1 for pre-season training.
However, he will not make a quick decision on Kingsley Jones' replacement for next season. Jim Jenner and Craig Chalmers are the early favourites to be the new skipper, but Brain will take his time over the appointment.
"We have a number of players already at the club with leadership qualities and new signings as well," he said. "I think what we will do is stand back and watch to see if anyone emerges as a natural leader."
Jones was released earlier this month and will today be paraded to the media after signing a two-year deal with former club Pontypridd.
"I'm really looking forward to playing for what I would call a real rugby club again," he said.
"My first target is to establish myself in the team but then I still harbour hopes of getting back into international rugby."
