THE goals have dried up for us slightly in our last three games but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that we'll soon be back banging 'em in.
Hopefully that will be tonight when we take on bottom-of-the-table Halifax Town in a Nat-ionwide Division Three match at Aggborough.
Another boost to our goals-for column would also be nice when we complete two home matches in a week by entertaining Macclesfield on Saturday.
I for one, though, don't really expect big wins against either of them. All I want is two victories and I don't really care how they come.
I'm sure that if we do manage to win them both we'll be back among the play-off places which we dropped out of on Saturday by losing 1-0 at promotion rivals Scunthorpe United.
I said last week, though, that there will be defeats along the way between now and the end of the season.
We have to accept that, it's the way football goes.
You have to say that with 19 league games still to left to play it's highly unlikely that we'll get through them all unbeaten.
I can fully understand the concern defeats create when you get well beaten and are not at the races.
But the way things are going for us at the moment I don't believe we need to do a lot. We just need to carry on because I think we are playing okay.
Games are coming thick and fast now and if we win two or three of those then the world will be a different place.
We don't need to linger on what happened at Scunthorpe on Saturday because that's history now.
Scunthorpe are not a bad side and we more than matched them. It was just one of those things.
What pleased me on Saturday was another good performance by Danny Williams and the way Adie Smith played on his return into midfield. He got through an awful lot of work.
But, to be honest, I thought there were a number of decent performances, although we never rea-ched the heights of some of our other displays this season.
I'm thinking in particular of the way we performed against Roch-dale and Hull, but supporters have to remember that there will be indifferent displays from time to time.
But what we are producing at the moment I believe is consistently good.
It's good enough for a play-off place and I think the players know that.
They know that they are fully capable of bouncing back tonight with a victory and that's what matters.
Halifax will be visiting us on the back of their 3-0 home win over Lincoln City on Saturday so that will have given them confidence.
And before that they had a 0-0 draw at Exeter so they are picking up and it is going to be difficult for us.
But with the way the players are at the moment they can't wait for tonight's game to kick-off.
Hopefully, our supporters are the same and as many of them as possible will turn up to cheer us on.
The players appreciate it and you can rest assured they'll be doing their best to get back on the victory trail after Saturday's setback at Scunthorpe.
