VETERAN peace campaigner 84-year-old Helen Richardson will be joining anti-war demonstrators from Wyre Forest for a mass protest in London on Saturday.
About 100 people will leave Kidderminster at 7am in two coaches and many others are making their own way to the Hyde Park rally against war in Iraq.
Coach organiser Cherry Isherwood, of Bewdley Quakers, said: "We have people of all ages from as young as 12. Helen Richardson ready to march in London at the Stop the War Campaign.
"We have representatives from churches of all denominations in Kidderminster and people who aren't in religious groups. the response has just been amazing."
Fellow Quaker Helen Richardson was involved in the famous Aldermaston marches of the 1960s, stayed for 100 nights outside the US base at Molesworth in the 1980s and visited Greenham Common.
The former educational psychologist and Home Office employee has no worries about keeping up with marchers and said: "Marches move very slowly in my experience. They are not my favourite kind of protest. I prefer the silent vigils we have been holding every week in Bewdley since the attack of September 11.
"But it is a chance for people to get involved. Too many people just sit back and say 'Oh dear, that's terrible' and do nothing."
