LAST Monday on a scorching hot evening saw the return of the benefice cricket match (courtesy of Eldersfield Cricket Club) Vicars team against the rest. This was a 20 over match with all ages participating. An excellent lady wicket keeper and marvellous efforts from young Scott, Tom, Harry, Jake, Phil and Nicholas. Score at end of play was a win by the Vicar's team 106-5 and the rest scoring 93-9. It is rumoured that the combined ages of the last two batsmen was 135 years. One sustaining injury but refusing a runner. Thanks to Colin and Elsie for scoring and to Ann and Celia for organising the event and excellent ploughman's supper. A big thank you to Phil Mattingley for his help and support. Latest news - knee injury much improved.
