A FORMER boxing champion is visiting Bromyard with his cabaret act.

John H Stracey, who was undisputed welterweight boxing between 1975 and 1976, performs classic ballads by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Matt Munro and charms his audiences thanks to his Cockney wit.

Stracey, who once appeared alongside the Barron Knights and Emlyn Hughes on a Combined Services Entertainment tour of Cyprus in the early 1990s, will be performing at the Conquest Theatre on Saturday, July 26, at 8pm. Tickets (£9/ £7) are available on 01885 488575.
