UPTON town councillors have given a cautious welcome to the new Old Street bollards.
At a meeting on Tuesday, coun Simon Wilkinson said: "They seem to remarkably effective at disrupting the traffic. If lorries now regard driving through Upton as a damn nuisance, then so much the better!"
Coun Tina Marshall said she felt the traffic was coming too close to the kerbs and suggested more monitoring with coun Wilkinson suggesting a six-month watch. Coun John Thompson was concerned more bollards could be built.
The bollards arrived in June to stop traffic mounting the pavement.
