ONE of the founder members of Malvern Town Council has resigned.
Philip Wright, who represented Malvern Link, quit on Wednesday having been first elected when the council was established in 1996.
The non-party political member did not want to comment on his resignation but in a letter to the council said he wanted to spend more time with his family.
A by-election could now be held in the ward, but only if ten Link residents demand one.
That means the majority of the Malvern Town Action Group could increase to 16 if it wins a poll, with just two non-MTAG members sitting on the 20-member council, following sweeping gains in May.
