AS the Mercian Elgar Junior Football League continues to grow there is a desperate need for more referees.

The league is heading towards 120 teams this season from throughout Worcester-shire and surrounding counties.

"It's very important that young footballers are made aware of the laws of the game," said league chairman George Silverman.

"Any referee willing to officiate, even if only once a month, will be much appreciated."

Mini soccer kicks off on Saturdays at 10.30am for Under 9s to Under 11s for boys and Under 10s and Under 12s for girls.

Boys 11-a-side football for Under 12s to Under 16s kicks off at 2 .30pm on Sundays.
