DISGRACED novelist Jeffrey Archer is to be freed from jail next week after serving half of a four-year sentence for perjury.
According to Paul Keetch , the occasion should be marked by booting the Peer out of the House of Lords.
Under current rules, there is nothing to stop Lord Archer returning to take his seat in the Upper House.
Mr Keetch, along with dozens of his Parliamentary colleagues, finds this outrageous and he has a very valid point.
MPs jailed for more than 12 months automatically forfeit their seats, so why is it different for Peers?
"The Government should bring in legislation to bring the two Houses of Parliament into line," Mr Keetch said.
