Once again county calls prevented Nomads from fielding a full-strength team. In a match reduced to 16 overs, Dominies took full advantage of some wayward bowling and posted 67 before the first wicket fell in the tenth over. Ryan Edwards held a difficult chance and Riley also held on to a stinging return off his own bowling. Although James Smith (21 no) carried his bat when Nomads batted, he was not able to up the scoring rate and Nomads fell 37 runs short.
Owing to last minute withdrawals, Nomads were two players short and this proved decisive in a tense, low scoring match against Pershore. Some tight bowling and an excellent catch by Jones restricted Nomads to 67 of which only 14 were extras.
Stickler (31 no) laid the foundation for Pershore before retiring. S Webb (3-9 in four overs) led a fight back but Pershore managed to scramble home off the first ball of the last over.
Worcester Nomads U12s
Two defeats for Nomads U12s in the WCB Club Competition were very much a part of the learning process.
Against OE's, Nomads were dismissed for 52, and were unable to come to terms with very tight accurate bowling. Only Sam Wreggitt (12) made double figures and with Tom Malone having to retire hurt, OE's score of 115-7 was never in danger. OE's deservedly won by 63 runs.
With skipper James Smith returning the following week, the result was much closer but again Nomads were unable to reach the required total. Barnards Green had made 126-6, with Smith taking 3-6 from four overs. In reply, the skipper rounded off a fine game by retiring undefeated on 31. Dawson and Dexter gave good support, but Nomads were unable to sustain the early progress, ending on 103-8.
Worcester Nomads U11s
Nomads, batting first, were given a good start by Andrew Curtis (8) and Ieuan Dimond (6). With Alex Claytor (17), Tom Mills (11) , Alex Williams (8) and Jac Dimond (8) all playing their part, Nomads finished on a useful 280.
Barnards Green's reply started well with Asquith (10) but wickets were lost at regular intervals with keen bowling and fielding from the Nomads side. Green finished on 205 leaving Nomads winners by 75 runs. The pick of the bowlers being Jack Barnett 2-3 and Ieuan Dimond 2-1.
