FORMER Mayor of Worcester Reg Glover has died at the age of 91.
Born in Wales in 1912, Mr Glover and his family later moved to Cinderford, in the Forest of Dean, and he went to Monmouth School.
He came to Worcester for a job in the Post Office, where he had a lengthy career working as a sorting clerk, counter clerk and telegraphist.
He married his wife Vera at the age of 23 and they set up home in Jubilee Road before moving to Bromwich Road.
Mr Glover was first elected to Worcester City Council in 1946, serving a four-year term and was re-elected in 1955, continuing until 1964.
He was Worcester mayor from 1958-59.
In 1961 he was also appointed a city magistrate and became Worcester education committee chairman.
He also reached 25 years as a Labour Party member.
However, all of these key roles came to an end in 1964 when he was appointed Postmaster of Daventry.
He took early retirement at 62, but he and wife Vera remained in Daventry until he was 70 when they set up home in Woodstock Road, St John's.
Mrs Glover died in 1990 and both now leave behind son Geoff and daughter Jill and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
