IT'S hard to understand how the word exonerated" can be used to describe the outcome of the Foreign Affairs Select committee's investigation into Alistair Campbell's - and, by extension, Downing Street's - role in manipulating intelligence material.
The outcome was agreed only by the casting vote of the Labour chair.
If this committee didn't have access to all the witnesses it wanted, nor to all written documentation it wanted, the position surely isn't that he has been found innocent but that there was insufficient evidence to convict?
WENDY HANDS,
