AVID Worcester recyclers can carry on their good work thanks to the delivery of new bags.
Worcester City Council has begun replenishing the supply of clear and purple recycling bags to the 38,000 households in the city who are taking part in the Kerbside Recycling Scheme.
The scheme, which began at the beginning of June, has been so successful that bags will now be delivered in rolls of 12 rather than individually.
Emma Stuart, the city council's recycling promotions officer, said refuse collection teams would give up their day off to help with the replacement programme.
"There has been a delay in getting new bags to the homes but much of that is down to re-ordering new supplies in rolls, rather than as individual bags - a process that inevitably takes time.
"We started delivering the first of the new supplies last Wednesday and many areas will have already received enough recycling bags to last for several collections, but to those that have not, we would ask householders to be patient.
"Recycling in Worcester has taken off at a rate of knots that no one could have forecast," she said.
