BROMSGROVE Rovers beat a youthful Walsall XI 5-1 at the Victoria Ground.

Peter Sutton opened the scoring after 17 minutes turning in Danny Scheppel's left wing cross past the helpless keeper.

Kevin Banner added the second on 32 minutes sliding in at the far post to bundle the ball over the line, after everyone missed Mark Benbow's right wing cross.

The third arrived in first half added time, James Dyson caught the ball on the volley, to send it into the top right hand corner.

Sam Bowen extended the lead with a free header, six minutes into the second half and on the hour mark Danny Scheppel finished off a series of good crisp passes that had the Walsall players running around chasing shadows for the fifth goal.

Walsall finally opened their account on 72 minutes, Jon Harkness' free kick was deflected off the defensive wall and looped over the stranded Wyatt.

The Saddlers staged a mini revival but could not break down a resolute Rovers defence, limiting them to long range efforts that were easily dealt with by Wyatt.

In the final minutes Walsall's substitute keeper Dean Coleman pulled off some fine saves.
