KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club claimed a winning draw at Chester Road against Leamington.

It was another good result for Kidderminster against highly-placed Leamington especially as they were without leading run-scorer Wright and leading wicket-taker Baylis.

The home side brought in Joe Hill and Chris Pyke. They both played a big part in posting a good score after KCC fell apart in the opening stages.

Leamington's skipper Francois Klopper had KCC opener Chris Jones trapped lbw on four and it got worse in the seventh over when Craig Wood was caught off the bowling of Saryl Burger for a duck.

Hill was playing steadily with Vic Lawes but he was next to go. The score had reached 33 in the 17th over when Hill was bowled by Burger for 21.

The recovery came in the shape of Mark Mansell and Vic Lawes. They had added 88 for the fourth wicket when Mansell was run out for a superb 58 in the 39th over.

In came Pyke and he continued where Mansell had left off. He and Lawes moved the score on to 212, a stand of 91, when Pyke was stumped on 45.

Lawes carried his bat for 84 -- his highest league score this season -- and he surely deserved a century for dragging Kidderminster out of an awful mess as they finished on 226.

In reply, opener Dave Hawkes was out for a duck off the bowling of Kamran Farooq. Matt Byrne was then caught by Mansell off Andy Siwicki's bowling to leave them on 22-2.

It was going Kidderminster's way in the 20th over when Mansell bowled Rob Williams for 14. In the next over it was Marc Derrick's time to strike. Hancock had reached 11 when he was out lbw. They were on the ropes at 48-4 but then, like Kidderminster, they steadied the ship.

Fifty-four had been added when Derrick struck again. Sean Llloyd caught Burger and it was 102-5 with Kidderminster looking for a valuable win. It did not happen, however, as Leamington dug deep and finished on 176-5.
