DAN Jones faces a race against time to be fit to face former club Coventry City in Worcester City's latest pre-season friendly tomorrow.

The youngster is a doubt after twisting an ankle in Saturday's 7-1 defeat against Belgium Premier League side KSK Beveren.

Jones has an added incentive to do well against the Highfield Road where he spent three years with the under 16s, 17s and 18s before being released last year.

"I'm not sure what kind of side they are sending but I still know quite a few of the lads there and hopefully I can be fit to face them," said Jones.

"I'm not sure how my ankle is because I'm still waiting for the swelling to go down to see how the movement is."

Jones injured his ankle when his studs caught in the pitch while City also suffered injuries to Jon Holloway who picked up a groin strain and Adam Wilde who reported a tight hamstring which troubled him last season.

Holloway, who aggravated his groin against Tividale, was hopeful of being fit for tomorrow after two bouts of treatment.

"It was tight from the first game against Tividale and then we were given a good runaround by KSK Beveren which did not help," said Holloway.

"But the groin injury does not feel too bad and I'm hoping to be fit for tomorrow's match against Coventry City."

Meanwhile, Worcester City's boys' teams trials reach a conclusion tonight with final selection for the Under 13s (6.30pm), Under 14s (7.30pm) and Under 16s (8.30pm).

More than 100 boys have attended trials so far and anyone interested can attend tonight at the Worcester City Development Centre in Droitwich Road.
