A MECHANICAL horse proved almost as popular as the real thing at a recent race meeting at Worcester Racecourse.
The racecourse held its first Country and Western night, last Wednesday, and despite rain bucketing down all evening, just over 2,000 people turned out for the event.
A mechanical Bucking Bronco proved very popular, with race-goers queuing up to test their balance and bravado in the Tattersalls Bar. A live band also performed in the Croft Bar.
"The Bucking Bronco seemed to be a runaway success," said Jenny Cheshire, from Worcester Racecourse.
"It was our first Country and Western night and from the feedback we have received so far, everyone had a lot of fun.
"Obviously, more people would have turned up if it hadn't poured with rain, but it's one of those things."
Mrs Cheshire said themed nights at the racecourse were meant to be "fun and entertaining" for race-goers.
The next themed night is due to take place on Friday, August 8, and will be a tribute to Elvis.
An Elvis look-a-like, accompanied by two dancers, will perform on the concourse following the racing.
