A CAR dealership employing 95 people is likely to be refused planning permission for a Worcester site because it would result in the loss of employment land.
A conventional office block on the plot at Knightsbridge Park, Wainwright Road, could potentially employ 500, while a more intensive scheme could provide up to 1,500 jobs, says a planning officer's report.
The proposal, by Robert Stern Ltd, is for a BMW and Mini showroom at the corner of Berkeley Way and Offerton Lane, with access from Wainwright Road.
It would provide new and used car sales, servicing, repairs, MOT testing, car washing and valeting, plus the sale and distribution of parts.
In a report to the planning committee, which meets tomorrow, chief planning officer Peter Yates says the proposal would result in the loss of a greenfield site committed for employment as part of a portfolio of sites to provide for the employment needs of the city.
