WEST Worcestershire MP Sir Michael Spicer has turned up the pressure on health bosses to give a new Pershore hospital the green light as soon as possible.
Sir Michael has written to the chairman of South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, David Barlow, calling for a decision to be made urgently.
"The proposal to build on the site close to the Wychavon Centre now has almost universal backing," he wrote.
He said it was time for the uncertainty about the future of Pershore Hospital to be removed.
The deal would involve Wychavon District Council paying for the new hospital to be built, and then leasing it back to the trust.
The council stepped in when the trust announced it would have to sell the hospital to pay off some of its debts.
A spokesman for the trust said good progress was being made with the new hospital development.
"The project team has met.
An up-to-date report is a main item on the agenda for the next public board meeting of the Primatry Care Trust on August 6," she said.
