A POPULAR book for young people which has been adapted for the stage opens at Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre next Wednesday.
Double Act tells the story of identical twins Ruby and Garnet who are forced to start a new life in the country with their dad and his new girlfriend Rose.
Writer Jacqueline Wilson has sold more than 10 million books in the UK alone, has four entries in the BBC's 100 Favourite Books and has won several awards, including the Children's Book Award for Double Act.
The book has been adapted for the stage by Vicky Ireland, who was awarded a MBE in the Queen's Jubilee Birthday honours list for services to drama for children.
Helen Rutter and Catherine Kinsella star as Ruby and Garnet, with John McCraw as Dad and Laura Sheppard as Rose.
The production is suitable for children aged eight to 13 and runs until August 3.
