MIKE Rogers was once again the bowling star as he took a match-winning 6-64 to help Droitwich Spa Cricket Club First XI win for the first time in four games with an excellent 52-run home success over Chaddesley Corbett.
Steve Walsh's side, without a league win since June 14, posted 232-7 before dismissing their visitors for 180 with Rogers, who took an unprecedented four wickets in four balls last week, claiming six wickets.
Put in to bat, Spa looked to Ian Duggan, who made 100 last week, to get them off to a good start but he was caught for 16.
Stuart (48) and Paul Bryan (54) settled down and laid an excellent foundation for the lower order to capitalise on, producing a partnership of 115. Unfortunately for Spa both batsman were dismissed in consecutive overs and the run rate started to dip.
The introduction of P Lyman (3-37) also slowed Spa's scoring rate although Ian Cottrill made 31 before being run out.
The loss of Jerome Connor and Rogers to Lyman saw Spa slip to 193-6 with only five overs remaining. Steve Walsh (21 not out) joined Karl Goddard (22) at the crease, enabling the hosts to reach 232.
Wind engulfed St Peter's Field for Chaddesley's reply. Conditions helped Rogers, who was able to bowl at pace to take the visitors' opener, but they hindered Goddard and he was unable to find his rhythm.
Experienced Martin Woodward joined the attack, took a wicket and was later replaced by Anthony Small (3-43).
Boden (36) was then caught at mid-off from Rogers' bowling to leave Chaddesley on 80-3. The turning point in the game was the dismissal of Andy Law (35) off the bowling of Small, whose medium pace accounted for Chambers and Truswell.
At 125-6 Chaddesley looked to consolidate but Rogers, who bowled 22 consecutive overs, would not let the batsman settle and picked up the last four wickets with a superb spell of bowling.
l On Sunday, Spa lost their latest league game by 75 runs at home to Feckenham despite Ian Cottrill's century.
The visitors rattled up an impressive 253-7, but Spa, with only three front line bowlers, struggled to keep the score down and conceded 153 from 18 overs. Walsh captured three wickets.
Cottrill hit an excellent 110 but received no support as the hosts were skittled out for a disappointing 178.
