ELMBRIDGE fishery was the venue for the Northfield Starlets Veterans event on Tuesday, July 15.

Topping a close score sheet was Alan Ryan (Worcester) who pole fished red meat at Heron pool peg 33 for 55-4-0. Second place went to Bill Drew (Bewdley) with 53-4-0 from Peacock pool peg two; third, Roger Banfield (Stourport), taking 47-8-0.

At Woodland View the affordable open was held on Deans pool which saw Ken Malborne (Dudley AC) pole fish corn and meat at peg 21 for a winning 75-14-0 catch. Dick Partridge (West Mids Police) was second with 70-12-0 and third was Chris Hill's (Woodlands Elite) 61-3-0.

On Wednesday, the Woodland View's over 50s contest was held on Deans pool. Paul Foster (Blackheath) was a clear winner when he put a ton up catch of 102-3-0 on the scales by pole fishing corn and meat at peg six. Tim Guise (Mosella Slapheads) followed with 67-4-0; third, Roger Finch (Dudley Bait and Tackle), 55-12-0.

Astwood Fisheries' Bluebell pool open was won by John Halfpenny (Astwood) with a pole and corn catch of 53-7-0 of cruchian Carp from peg 15. Paul Webley (Kateshill AC) took 24-12-0 for second with third going to Gary Kirkham's (Astwood) 17-1-0.

At Lodge Park, in Redditch, the evening series was hit by heavy rain and bites were at a premium. A head to head battle at peg 40 and 41 saw Mark Hemmings (Lodge Park) come out the victor from 40 when he fished method feeder with pellet hookbait for a 29-8-0 catch.

Colin Woodward (Fishermans Friend) had to settle for second place with 23-7-0 with third Rob Bishop (Lodge Park) taking 19-12-0. Bishop leads the league table with 51 points; Colin Woodward 50; Tom Chellingsworth 48.5.

Thursday saw the KH Veterans at Woodland View's Deans pool and it was Roger Banfield (Stourport) that showed the way by ledgering luncheon meat at peg 43 to take 89-4-0 of Carp. Alan Ryan (Worcester) almost had a double victory with 51-6-0.

Woodland View's Friday afternoon Deans pool open saw Mark Westwood (Woodlands Elite) have a runaway victory by pole fishing corn and meat at peg one for 129-15-0. Dave Stockton (Haines Angling) was second with 71-13-0 and third was Mick Clewley (Woodlands), taking 64-14-0.

Saturday's Woodland Views open was also held on Deans pool, but the weights were somewhat lower. In first place was Guise (Mosella Slapheads) who pole fished meat at peg eight for 57-1-0. Andy Grearley (Fishermans Friend) took the runners-up prize with 51-0-0; third, Paul Foster (Blackheath), 44-10-0.

The Broad Acres main lake open was headed by Chris Newton (Redditch) who pole fished cat food over casters in the margins of peg 48 for 74-3-0. Way back in second place was Graham Upton (Rover) with 39-15-8 and third was Paul Mason's (Triplex) 31-6-8.

At Moorlands Farm, the final round of the summer league saw fishery expert Lee Richards (Lifestyle) take the top individual honours by pole fishing corn and meat up in the water at Meadow pool peg 59 for 98-12-0.

Runner-up Bob Jones (A an D Lock) was close with 97-6-0 and third, Ian Whitehouse (Strike Angling), with 90-12-0.

Strike Angling were the days winners with nine points; A and D Lock 16; Lifestyle 22. Shakespeare win the league and collect £480 for their 13-point tally.

Dave Bennett (Stourbrudge) won Sunday's Moorlands Farm's Meadow pool open by waggler fishing corn and meat at peg 32 for 69-10-0. Second was Paul Cahill (Bartley Green) with 68-4-0; third, Jones (A and D Lock), 62-3-0.

Kings Norton AS held its summer league final round on club waters on the River Alne at Kinwarton. Continuing his good run was Bromsgrove's John Miller who pole fished bronze maggots together with worms at peg eight to take eleven Chub for 7-7-0. Steve Woodward was second with 5-2-0 and third, Richard Hoban, taking 4-13-8.

League winner was Miller with five points and took a top prize of £110. Matt Rainbow was second with nine; third Steve Woodward 13.

The Birmingham Civil Service AC held the first leg of its Presidents Cup at Elmdon main pool. Catshill's Gary Booth was the winner by pole fishing meat at peg 20 for 39-15-0; Eric Rowbottom was second with 29-0-0 and Rob Deeming's 28-9-0 took third.

At Astwood Fishery, the Bluebell pool open was headed by Cliff Richards (Hobsons Choice) by pole fishing corn and meat at peg 18 for 52-2-0. Second, Paul Savings (Sheldon Heath), 49-0-0; third, Simon Jakes (Marks Tackle), 46-1-0.

Triplex AC held its sixth bye contest on Broad Acres main lake with Scott Smith pole fishing meat in the margins of peg 40 to take 58-3-0. Second was Kevin Saxelby's 44-3-0 and third, John Harris' 39-12-0.

Wyre Forest Fishery Furnace Mill produced a bumper catch of 104-12-0 for Andy Newton (Lifestyle) by fishing chopped worms and casters at Mucky Meadow pool 50. Second place Bob Marklew (Walsall) had 78-1-0; third, Bob Ginster (Fosters), 75-7-0.

Rounding off this week's round-up is the Woodland View's afternoon Deans pool open. Anthony Rogers (Preston Inovations) won with a 118-12-0 catch with corn and meat form 17. Mark Westwood (Woodlands Elite) was second with 84-10-0 and Stan Taylor (CSM) took 82-2-0 for thrid.
