A CHURCH Hill husband and wife were horrified when they saw a woman and her child fall in the road in the path of busy traffic and nobody stopped to help her.
Judith Harris and her husband Ray, from Loxley Close, were driving along Windmill Drive, Crabbs Cross, on Saturday at about 2pm when they saw a woman with a pushchair trying to cross the busy road.
But as she stepped off the pavement she missed her footing and fell, pulling the pushchair over with her.
A car came along but rather than stopping and offering help, the driver swerved around her without stopping and continued on his journey.
Mrs Harris said: "We couldn't believe it when we saw what happened, we were absolutely horrified.
"If you see someone fall like that in the road you don't just ignore them, you stop and you help them, especially where there is a young child involved.
"Luckily the woman had only grazed her leg and her toddler son was unhurt but both were in a real state of shock. This could have been far more serious as this is such a busy road."
Mr Harris said: "Luckily the driver was going slow but we couldn't believe he didn't even try to stop.
"The woman and her child were lying headlong in the road and she had fallen on top of the pram, it was just lucky the child was strapped in or it could have been much worse."
