CARL Osborne, aged eight, was hailed a hero when he carried his brother Andrew, two, from their burning home in Woodrow Close, Catshill, while their parents were away. The cause of the blaze remained a mystery.

BROMSGROVE'S infant hospital radio service was in need of a cash injection to revive its fortunes. Organisers behind the service, launched at the general hospital last year, had applied to Bromsgrove District Council for a £2,000 grant from its town lottery profits.
Bromsgrove School was going through a transitional period, headmaster, the Rev Nick Earle, said at the commemoration service. Gone were the Victorian days when public schools catered for the socially elite, nowadays they provided education to meet the needs of youngsters in the second half of the 20th century
