CLOSE on 200,000 gallons of water a day was overflowing from the new 600ft-deep 30-inch borehole which had been sunk at Wildmoor by the East Worcestershire Waterworks Company. It would be capped when work was complete. Together with another, also at Wildmoor, they would supply Barnt Green and Rubery with the surplus being piped to Bromsgrove and Droitwich.

THE MESSENGER lamented the loss to the town of the BYO ground in New Road, Bromsgrove, after it had been acquired by the county council. In its editorial the paper said, with its large expanse of grass and track around the perimeter, the ground was a valuable asset to the town and its main sports stadium.

AN OFFER by the manager at John B Wilson's shop at Stoke Works to get prescriptions left there in the morning, made up in Bromsgrove and returned the same night because the village had no pharmacy, had been turned down. The Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain objected on grounds that there was an "inherent danger" in drugs being kept in a grocer's shop.

BROMSGROVE Rovers players reported back for pre-season training with sessions for professional and amateurs. Mananger Jimmy Duggan extended an invitation to "any likely lad" who fancied his chances to get in touch with him at the ground.
