DEAR EDITOR -- As a parent with children both in Middle and High schools in Bromsgrove, I think it would be a very good idea to bring behaviour contracts into schools backed up by the police, social services and the local education authority.
All my children at some point have been bullied in school, one on a regular basis. As a parent, the schools teaching staff cannot deal with bad behaviour and I have often had a "run-in" with the headmaster over the welfare rights of my child while in his care.
Each incident has been dealt with kid gloves. Heads of schools are more worried about the school's reputation or being attacked by angry parents of behavioural problem children.
I would like to see headteachers and governors being made more accountable with their own jobs being put on the line for negligence, where continued bullying goes unchecked.
I want to see my children get the best possible education, without these disrupted influences and practices going on any further. Bring in behaviour contracts to our schools, or parent action groups will ask for resignations.
Anti-bullying policies don't work. Parents have rights too!
