RESIDENTS in the Spa and surrounding district can be assured tip-top treatment after Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust were awarded two stars this week.

Chief Executive, Sue Hunt was delighted the Trust had maintained it's two star status based on data collected during 2002/2003.

She said: "This demonstrated the continuing commitment and effort made by the Trust's staff to deliver the very best care, within resources available."

The Trust were awarded their two star status from the Commission for Health and Improvement after reaching six out of the seven key performance indicators. There were also a large number of areas where the Trust had been rated significantly above average.

These included, care planning, clinical negligence arrangements, management of junior doctors' hours and information.

But it was noted the Trust needed to pay extra attention to the safe transition of care from child to adult mental health and from adult to older adult mental health.

"There is also work to be done on understanding why patients fail to attend for outpatient appointments," Sue added.

However, she was reassured people living in Worcestershire were receiving a good mental health service and 'there was a solid platform on which to continue to further improve the service.'
