FIREMAN Warren King rode to victory in the Birmingham CC two-day stage race at Beoley, Redditch.
King, from Bromsgrove and riding for Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club, began the time trial last Saturday, managing seventh place and followed it with ninth place in the first road race stage.
But 35-year-old Warren won the final road stage 24 hours later with a four-second winning margin to take overall victory.
He continued his good form in the John Andrews memorial road race, finishing second. King was also runner-up in the Oxford Road Club John Hitchcock memorial road race.
Meanwhile, Bromsgrove's Phil Blacker, also a fireman at Bromsgrove with Warren, was in superb form to win the 58km Darley Moor Circuit Race in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, last Sunday.
The pair are now aiming for a good performance in the Fireman's World Championship event to be held near Lake Garda, Italy, in September.
