A MARTIAL arts expert is teaching disabled people how to defend themselves when they are out and about during a free defence session in Worcester.
Despite being born with two deformed feet, Peter Lewis, is ranked senior associate instructor and has a fifth dan black belt, which makes him one of the top martial arts experts in the country.
The 43-year-old, was set to hold a one-off self-defence class for people with physical disabilities in March, after Say It Yourself, a charity that encourages disabled independence, contacted him.
The class had originally been postponed and Mr Lewis will now be holding the session at Lyppard Grange Community Centre, Warndon Villages, Worcester on Saturday, July 26, from 10am to 11.30am.
Mr Lewis will be advising the students on how to keep belongings safe when going out to places such as the cash point.
"I will give tips on looking confident and not looking like a victim," said Mr Lewis.
He has just opened a new self-defence club in Malvern at The Wyche Institute, Old Wyche Road, on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm.
