MORE than 200 parents and friends attended Tenbury High School's annual awards Ceremony last Thursday when John Pilling, managing director of Brint-ons Carpets, Kidderminster, and one of many sponsors backing the school's campaign for specialist status in science and engineering, presented the awards.

In his address, Mr Pilling spoke of the many ways pupils could achieve success in life and not only by the university degree route. Using himself as an example, he said: "In engineering, aims can be very often reached by experience and enthusiasm."

Enthusiasm

Using a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm", Mr Pilling added: "This can be applied to the enthusiasm Tenbury High School eng-enders in its pupils."

Congratulating students on their achievements, headteacher Stuart Cooke thanked the community for the many and varied ways they showed their generosity and support to the school.

Trophies and salvers, designed and supplied by local businessman Darren Pugh, a talented former pupil at the High School, were presented to the winners. During the evening talented musicians and singers, directed by Head of Music, Jennie Harral, performed excerpts from Les Miserables.
