MOTORSPORT: Kidderminster racer Nathan Freke will contest the final European 250cc Superkart Championship round at Donington Park on August 10 after completing a deal with F1 Karts.
Freke, who leads the British Championship as a 125cc driver, will have his first outing at 250cc level and with an international race licence.
The meeting is one of the major car-racing events with F3000 single seaters and FIA GT sports cars also competing.
It is rare for European Championship karting events to be held in the UK and Freke is still looking for tyre sponsors.
He said: "I am looking forward to racing on the full Grand Prix circuit at Donington but am a little apprehensive about my first outing in a 250cc kart.
"I have driven on the national circuit at Donington in my 125cc kart but I will only have one test session prior to the meeting in the 250 kart."
Freke has been offered the chance to compete in an international meeting in Romania but needs to find suitable transport.
The 125cc race will include national, European and world champions.
