BURGLARS drove into a Chaddesley Corbett pensioner as she tried to stop them stealing her car.
The woman, who has not been named, stood in front of the light blue Land Rover Freelander after intruders had entered her house and stolen the keys.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering shock and minor injuries following the incident at 12.35pm on Monday. Her handbag was also taken.
Sue Savidge, chairman of Wyre Forest East Neighbourhood Watch, said the woman was one of the organisation's newest co-ordinators and branded the incident "shocking".
"This lovely, gentle lady is very enthusiastic as regards keeping her community crime-free and I am not at all surprised at her bravery yesterday afternoon," she added.
"I know I speak on behalf of all Neighbourhood Watch members when I wish her a speedy and full recovery and my thoughts are with her and her family."
The woman was returning home with her daughter when she realised her car was being stolen.
The thieves drove off in it along the A448 towards Mustow Green. It was followed by a second car which is believed to be connected with the incident.
