MATTHEW Clarke (You Say, Monday, July 14) tells us, would you believe, that Madam Thatcher contributed to Britain's greatness.
I thought she closed all Britain's coalfields, closed hospitals and wards and put more people out of work by running down all manufacturing.
She also cheated our pensioners by scrapping the earnings-related benefit and stopped children's milk.
I'll just let Tony Blair and his yes men, like Mike Foster, carry on where Madam Thatcher's government left off.
As New Labour, they make excellent Tories.
By the way, Mr Clarke, I'm also proud to be British. That's why I could never vote conservative.
D PARKER, Worcester.
