A 79-YEAR-OLD man who had not visited his doctor for five years was burnt to death in a fire at his home, an inquest heard.
Worcestershire coroner Victor Round said 79-year-old Henry Field died in a fire at his bungalow in Narroway Lane, Crossway Green, on July 9.
He said no identification of the body was feasible by usual means because the body found by the fire brigade was "utterly unrecognisable", but they had fallen back on a "good" police report by Detective Sergeant Ken Weale .
Mr Round added the remains found in the fire were "the right height" for Mr Field, who had been seen the previous day but not since the blaze.
Mr Round said the last person to see Mr Field, a recluse who lived in a single storey wooden framed building, was an assistant at a service station in Hartlebury where he bought his food.
Mr Round adjourned the case for a month.
