FRIENDS of Cradley School, in conjunction with John Stoddard, are running an evening of music of music and dance entitled A Tribute to Gershwin to be held at Colwall Village Hall on August 22.
The evening will feature Sally Lewis (Big Band singer) with dancing to Gordon Whitworth (Birmingham Swingtet). There will also be a performance of jazz-jive sequences by the up and coming due Russell Dudley and Kymberley Lane from Dyson Perrins and the Chase schools respectively. The event will be held inside but people are invited to bring their own picnic, a licensed bar will be available serving wine, beer and soft drinks. The evening will start at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £7 to include a glass of wine. Tickets are available from John Goodwin, Colwall (01684) 540300.
Another reminder of the annual Scout jumble sale to be held on Saturday, September 20, at Colwall Village Hall.
Application forms for the Walwyn Educational Foundation can be obtained from Mr S J Widdows, clerk to the governors, West Mead, Walwyn Road, Colwall, Tel (01684) 540326. The Foundation offers grants to students resident in the parishes of Little Malvern and Colwall who are going on from school to a course of vocational or higher education. Completed forms must be returned by September 15.
The second in the series of summer events for young people aged between 10-16 will be a dance workshop to be held at the village hall on Thursday, July 31, from 2-3.30pm. A high ropes course will be taking place at the Malvern Hills Outdoor Centre from 1.30-4.30pm. Costs for these courses are £1.50 for the dance workshop and £2 for the high ropes course. All children will need to be pre-booked.
