ELIZABETHAN bodices are being thrown out of the window for a new open-air production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Set against the backdrop of the spectacular ruins of Witley Court at Great Witley, near Worcester, Heartbreak Productions will stage Shakespeare's tale of love and jealousy, reason and nature, illusion and reality.
Providing the mystical woods of the play will be the gardens of the court, designed in the 19th Century.
But this production replaces the quaint yokels with up-to-date traders as Heartbreak plunges the Bard's play into the 21st Century.
Original music
A Midsummer Night's Dream features Worcester actor Mark Brisbourne in the role of fairy king Oberon and includes original music by Darren Scott.
Peter Mimmack, who took the helm for last year's Richard III, Taming of the Shrew in 2001 and Twelfth Night in 1999, directs this production.
The Warwickshire-based company, which specialises in outdoor Shakespeare, was last at Witley Court at the end of June with its production of The Merry Wives of Windsor.
A Midsummer Night's Dream runs on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27 at 7.30pm.
Admission costs £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and a further £1 discount for English Heritage members.
