A PLANNING application to change the use of a clothes shop to a teashop in Upton has been given the go-ahead.
Applicants, Mr and Mrs Walker, originally wanted to open a pizza caf with takeaway at 2 Court Street, previously a clothes shop. But after concerns were expressed about road safety the plan was changed to a teashop.
The original pizza application attracted a number of objections from local people who were worried about the possible impact from noise and litter, among other issues.
But Malvern Hills District Council planning officers said the scheme "would not be harmful to the vitality and viability of the town centre", and the council's southern area planning sub-committee has now approved it.
