May I take the opportunity to congratulate Joan Sorensen and encourage her on the campaign to get it over to Central Trains that passengers will not tolerate short notice terminations at intermediate stations so it can massage its performance figures.
It is something I had always thought of doing myself but never had the guts. Well done Joan and your fellow passengers that day.
It's obvious that Central, and for that matter Thames and Great Western, do not like running to Worcester and beyond because it is out of the way and restrictions to speed, probably because of poor track and out-dated semaphore signalling that Isambard Kingdom Brunel would have been proud of, affects its performance.
I am a regular user of the 16.13 Thames Train service from Worcester Shrub Hill for the short journey to Malvern Link.
I say regular, but more often than not, it is running so late it terminates at Foregate Street, obviously so that the train can be turned around to form the 16.53 back to Paddington. The late running of this train would have a catastrophic effect on the punctuality performance to London.
What they completely ignore is that passengers at the Malverns have to wait four hours for their next direct train to London. I do realise they are able to catch a Central train to Foregate to connect with a later London service, but this adds an hour to their journey. As I said earlier, do they care? No, we are only customers from the sticks, why do we want to travel to London?
These train companies I am afraid are a law unto themselves, and unless we take a leaf out of Joan's book they will continue to give us a worse than poor service.
