A GANG of youngsters used an airgun to take pot-shots at a pair of walkers on the Malvern Hills.

The husband and wife were targeted at the reservoir near British Camp.

The couple, who have lived in Malvern for 23 years, were attacked with stones and then shot at by three youths as they walked along a path near the reservoir on Saturday night.

"We were pelted with stones which continued for quite a little while," said the husband, who is not being named due to fear of reprisals.

"We looked up and they waved to confirm we'd seen them. Then they picked up an air rifle and took aim. It's not a nice feeling seeing someone point a gun at you."

The pair were fired at at least twice from around 50 yards by what they believe were teenagers.

"They were waiting for us to get to the peak of the bend, which is particularly exposed from above," he said.

"They pursued us for a hundred yards altogether but they lost us behind the contours of the hill.

"We didn't gallop but we hurried along as fast as we could. We didn't want to make it look as if we were panicking. That's what they wanted - to make us feel terrorised."

The couple called the police and one officer undertook a search of the area.
