FORMER pupils and staff members at The Chase were reunited at a party to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary.

Between 300 and 400 people gathered at the Geraldine Road college on Saturday night and enjoyed a disco, live music and a casino in the school's hall and library.

Representatives from every decade, both pupils and staff, were in attendance, some travelling for miles to be there. One former pupil arrived in Malvern from Boston, Massachusetts, in the US.

Throughout last week an exhibition was held at the school, showing memorabilia, photographs and other artefacts from the past 50 years. The exhibition was also open during the party.

Kevin Peck, the head of the school, said: "It was really very good. There was such a cross section from all generations that attended from the early 50s to more recently."

He hinted that the reunion might become a regular event.

"It's something we'll see if we can build on," he said. "Perhaps we could do a regular series of reunions focusing on a particular decade."

Faith Renger, who had put together the exhibition, said hundreds of people had come to see the display of the school's past.

"We have got some nice little memories coming back from the visitors' book," she said.

"On Saturday you could hardly move in the rooms where the exhibition was. I hope it's captured what a remarkable school it's been from day one."
