AN after-school club for the children of West Malvern moved a step closer this week.
Organisers are now advertising for a supervisor and assistant to run the club.
The club aims to offer good-quality care for 16 children aged from four to 11, five days a week.
Jane Evans, chairman of the club committee, said: "Up to now, parents from St James have had to rely on the limited after-school care available in Malvern or the goodwill of family and friends.
"This has been particularly hard on the youngest children who, after a busy day at school, had to be bussed into Malvern to another new situation. Now they will be able to stay with children they know from the small village school."
There was no room at the primary school for the club, but the private girls' school on the village, also called St James's, has offered the use of two rooms in one of its buildings.
The club got a grant of £7,200 from the New Opportunities Fund.
