I AGREE with D E Margrett (You Say, Monday, July 7). The EU idea of splitting the UK into regions is not Machiavellian, since it is well publicised - with the whole of Europe being split into regions.
New Labour and the Liberal party are all behind this idea which would, without any shadow of a doubt, be detrimental to the UK. Aren't the vast majority of people against regionalisation?
Mr Margrett also suggests British people are very parochial. Then why destroy our counties, which everyone loves and wants?
Worcester would not become a strong unitary authority with the introduction of regions, since it would be a mere minnow with Birmingham and the West Midlands being the "big boys".
Regionalisation and a subsequent Federal State of Europe should and must be opposed and never allowed to happen.
