PLANS to squeeze a bungalow between two houses have been rejected by Worcester city councillors.
But the development could still go ahead following consultation between the landowner and the council's planning officers.
The proposal involves building a detached bungalow between numbers one and three Catherine Road, St John's, in what used to be the garden area at number one.
The land now belongs to the neighbouring property. Chief planning officer Peter Yates said there was concern that the bungalow would look out of place in a street full of two-storey houses.
But he said the owner would be entitled to build a garage on the same piece of land.
Fellow committee member Coun Mike Layland said the site was rapidly becoming a tip.
"I think you could negotiate a better design," he told planning officers.
The application was rejected, but the final decision was delegated to the planning officers.
