THERE are plenty of activities to keep young artists occupied this summer, thanks to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.

It has organised a series of workshops for children and family groups for the holiday period.

This Thursday, youngsters will be able to take part in Big Art for Little People, a workshop with artist Connie Harpur.

The first class, from 10.30am to noon, is for three to six-year-olds, while the second, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, is suitable for six to nine-year-olds.

On Monday, August 4, ceramic artist Jon Williams is back by popular demand with his Hands on Clay! workshop.

The first session, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, is aimed at seven to 11-year-olds, and the second, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, is a family workshop for four-year-olds upwards.

Collages

Artist Adrienne Craddock is holding two printmaking sessions called Fish and Chicks, creating collages inspired by animals from stories and rhymes, on Wednesday, August 6.

Seven to 11-year-olds are invited to the first, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and 11 to 14-year-olds should head for the second, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

On Friday, August 8, multimedia artist John Briscoe will be making models of favourite characters and heroes, in sessions entitled Big Heads.

There is a session for seven to 11-year-olds from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and a family workshop from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Finally, on Wednesday, August 13, textile artist Serena Partridge will be making life-size face masks and wigs in workshops entitled Altered Images.

A session for five to nine-year-olds runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and one for nine to 13-year-olds takes place from 2pm to 4pm.

Each workshop costs £3.75 per child and £5.50 per adult. Special family rates are available. Booking is essential.
