OVER the past two weeks, in very high temperatures, Mathon, Cradley & Storridge A has played two mixed and four ladies tennis matches.
Against Bromwich Lane, the normal reliable pairing of Duncan Hannaford and Carol Dandy failed on this occasion to pick up any rubbers.
Phil Toghill and Janet Brown won their first but lost the second rubber in the third set.
The next match saw a 3-1 win against Worcester where the pairing of Chris Brandon-White and Jane Facer played in their usual confident way and picked up one rubber while Toghill and Brown netted both rubbers. The mixed now have one more match to play against Hallow.
Having been promoted last season, Ladies A have struggled to pick up rubbers but against Barnt Green, Chris Brandon-White and Jackie Styles played some excellent tennis to pick up one rubber, then another hard-fought match against Madley, Jane Facer and Carol Dandy came away with one rubber.
This was followed by Pershore where again one rubber was picked up by Sonja Sanderson and Brown. The final match of the season against Cutnall Green saw one rubber picked up by the same pairing.
