GEORGE Cowley made such an eloquent defence of his correspondences to the Evening News (You Say, July 19) that I almost feel guilty for criticising him.

I have one question, however, George - if you've had such a notable input to the editorial content of The New Statesman why do you write such abject drivel to Worcester's fine organ?

Presumably your contributions to such an esteemed national publication as The New Statesman were of a high standard, so why don't you bestow your considerable literary talents on those of us who don't read it instead of keeping them to within such a limited audience?

Go on George, show us what you're made of!

GARY WEBB,

Worcester.
