BARNARDS Green Thirds drew with Bewdley at Brintons on a wicket as varied in bounce as the British weather.

Batting first, Bewdley got off to a steady start before Dave Knapper caught opener Malgem for 12 off Liam Paddock.

Thereafter, despite some good bowling, the Bewdley batsmen made the most of some big gaps and poor fielding and eventually reached 128.

Patrick Jelley bowled a good line to pick up two wickets and Phil Harris, Emily Price and Liam Paddock all bowled well with little success.

In reply, Liam Paddock (18) and Dave Knapper (25) gave the Green a solid start before both fell in quick succession and then skipper Rob Lewis followed for a rare duck.

Keith Middleton (39) steadied the ship, despite giving the opposition some catching practice and was ably supported by Nick Rogers (29) and Jonathon Lewis (20) who had kept wicket very well. However, Bewdley were content to protect the boundary and as the Green players got themselves out it was left to Dave Bayliss and Phil Harris to see the Green home for a draw.
