HANLEY Castle & Upton entertained Crusader Worcestershire County League Division Four leaders Harborne.

Put into bat, Hanley struggled reaching 40-3 with Mason (2-37) bowling with good pace and the Akhtar (1-60) and Palmer (0-42) twins.

But putting on 138 for the fourth wicket, Grant Mathews (92) and Richard Thompson (56) hit back.

They helped Hanley reach a respectable 208-5 and set about their bowling task.

J. Dyer (83) quickly set about the Hanley and with G. Land (47) and T. Crabb (38no)in support, the victory target came quickly into sight and was reached with 15 overs to spare.

Hanley Under-10s team entertained their Ombersley counterparts in an eight-a-side pairs competition.

Hanley bowlers, Connor Fletcher in particular, showed great control only conceding nine runs in three overs.

Ombersley reached 289 and, in reply, The Hanley batters managed a creditable 265 but were careless in their defence and running to give up eight wickets. Only Rory Mathews and Tom Amery remained unbeaten with Joe Pantling named their man of the match.
